What's this ?

"Wild flowers"

( i.e. "Fleurs en poche" ) allows you to identify with ease 1178 species of flowers from France and from western Europe.
Most of these flowers are present in the United Kingdom.

Why this software ?

At the beginning of year 2009 we were working on the page "flora" of this site. The work was almost finished, when a friend says to us : «This piece of software is great, but imagine if you could have it on your iPhone...»

"Wild flowers" had been born !

How does it works ?

When you are searching for a flower in a book, the problem is that you have to read many pages to find what you look for.

The main feature of "Wild flowers", the wizard, allows you to reduce the number of occurrences, by using an assistant in which you select criteria.

The available criteria are :
- Shape of the flowers.
- Colors of the flowers.
- Arrangement of the flowers.
- Shape of the leaves or leaflets.
- Arrangement of the leaves.

All criteria are optional.

Trick : in the middle of the TabBar at the bottom of the screen, a red badge shows you in real time how many results are available for the criteria you have selected. Click on "Show" to display the species.

Here is how is organized the page "Show". :

At the top, left to right :
- Two buttons which allow you to sort out the species by Latin name or by common name.".
- The button "previous species" (if available)
- The button "next species" (if available)

In the middle, a photo shows the current species, and the scale in centimeters

At the bottom :
- At left, a button allows you to display all species which belongs to the same family than the current species.
- At right, a button allows you to display all species which belongs to the same gender than the current species.
- And finally, the big button allows you to display details for the current species.

If you have a precise idea of what you are searching for, you can view the species as list.

This mode allows you to display species or even entire families.
As usual, sorting is achieved by latin name or by common name.
